Visit the “Puur Natuur Markt” on Saturday

27 maart 20162 minute read

Wassenaar – The (organic) ‘Pure Nature Market” is a place to discover, taste and learn all about the different foods. Meet one of the beekeepers of Wassenaar, look at the new born lambs and talk to the local wine producer.

Taste the artisanal sausages and ham from “ Beuling charcuterie”,made by two enthusiastic young men from Leiden. The pigs were raised on organic farms in our neighborhood. This year we celebrate the first lustrum of the market, so we were looking for some new stands. Taste smoked eel cured by “ Willem de Graaf “ in Spakenburg, a town famous for fish. Their homemade recipes have been handed down generation to generation.

Come and meet the butcher Rob Rijks and Marlies de Waal, author of a book on living and cooking in Liguria, Italy. She will be preparing some of her recipes at the market. You will love it! For flowers, you have to visit Jolande Zijlemaker, who operates her own organic garden . You can order your own bouquet of seasonal flowers at her market stall. Fill your basket with English pies, Dutch cheese, homemade tart, Italian oil and organic bread to take home for Sunday Lunch.

After shopping you might sit on a terrace , have a coffee or ice cream and listen to the songs of Coen Bouwmeester accompanying himself on the accordion.

The “Puur Natuur Markt” will be held every first Saturday of the month from 10.00 a.m. – 5.00 p.m on the van Hogendorpstraat, next to Luciano’s ice cream and Soo French.
