Fall Prevention Course for Seniors: “Fast and Agile”
With winter weather making streets slippery, Snel en Lenig is organising a fall prevention course aimed primarily at residents aged 55 and over.
The practical course focuses on balance, safe movement, falling techniques and getting up safely, helping participants gain confidence and coordination.
The six-session course runs from 5 February to 12 March 2026 and is taught by Taco van den Broek, a certified fall-prevention instructor and experienced judo teacher.
The course can also be supported in English and German.

Winter Road Safety: Gritting and Snow Clearance
The Municipality of Wassenaar has shared an update on winter road safety. From 1 November to the end of March, gritting teams are on standby day and night to keep main routes accessible for emergency services, public transport and residents.
The municipality works with fixed gritting routes and deploys snowploughs during snowfall. Residents are reminded that keeping the pavement in front of their homes clear is their own responsibility.
Practical tips include using small amounts of salt, clearing snow before spreading grit, and avoiding parking in places that block gritting vehicles.
Abstract Art Exhibition: “It Means Nothing”
From 9 January to 8 February, the Voorschotense Kunstkring, in collaboration with Kunstgroep Wassenaar, presents an exhibition of abstract art at Windlust Windmill titled “Het stelt niks voor” (“It Means Nothing”).
Visitors are invited to give titles to up to three artworks and can even win a prize.
The exhibition opens officially on Sunday 11 January at 16:00 and is open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 14:00 to 17:00.

These networks connect farmers, chefs, retailers, healthcare professionals and residents around healthy, sustainable and local food.
Interested participants can sign up via Voedselfamilies Zuid-Holland.
Mayor’s New Year’s Speech: Stay Involved and Vote
During the New Year’s reception, Mayor Leendert de Lange reflected on 2025 and looked ahead to the upcoming municipal elections on 18 March 2026.
He urged residents—especially first-time voters—to participate:
“Make your voice heard. The village needs your energy and ideas.”
The mayor also highlighted the importance of volunteers, community resilience and announced that Raadhuis De Paauw will close in May 2026 for a major renovation lasting at least 2.5 years. Municipal services will temporarily relocate, while the surrounding park remains accessible.
