WarmtelinQ project receives final approval
The WarmtelinQ heat transport pipeline, which will run through Wassenaar, has received final approval after the Council of State rejected all remaining objections.
The underground pipeline will transport residual heat from the Port of Rotterdam to the Leiden region, providing a more sustainable heating network for thousands of homes and businesses.
Dune fire attracts huge online audience
The major dune fire near Wassenaarse Slag was followed by more than 100,000 online viewers through the webcams of Strandweer.nu.
The live images were not only popular with the public but also proved useful for the fire brigade, which used the camera footage to monitor the fire until drone teams arrived on the scene.
Discover nature with the IVN Green Course
IVN The Hague is once again offering its popular Green Course this autumn for anyone interested in learning more about nature.
The six-week programme includes lessons on bats, mushrooms, coastal nature, bird migration and forests, as well as two guided excursions. The course is open to beginners of all ages.
Jazz Sociëteit announces new concert season
Jazz Sociëteit Wassenaar has unveiled its 2026-2027 concert programme.
From October through May, eight Sunday afternoon concerts will bring a mix of jazz, Latin, blues and soul to Deijlerhuis, featuring artists including CaboCubaJazz, Jasper Blom Trio, Pierre Courbois and SOULQUAKE.
Police investigate theft from children’s charity shop
Police have confirmed that a report has been filed against an asylum seeker in connection with the theft of almost 10,000 euros from the Kinder Kringloop charity shop in Wassenaar.
The investigation is ongoing. According to police, the suspect has not been arrested, while part of the missing money has already been recovered.
One injured in stabbing incident
A woman was seriously injured during a stabbing at a Salvation Army accommodation centre on Zonneveldweg in Wassenaar.
Emergency services responded quickly, and the victim was taken to hospital. Police arrested another woman at the scene and have launched an investigation into the incident.
