Stichting Maatschappelijke Ondersteuning Wassenaar (society for the welfare of citizens of Wassenaar) is looking for volunteers for the Shopping and Talking Service.
The Shopping and Talking Service is for citizens who have trouble getting out of their house. They can call on the services of a volunteer to take them shopping, having a chat, for example for a little stroll through the Langstraat and have a cup of coffee afterwards.
Volunteers and the citizens are matched according to their common interests, like hobbies. The frequency of the visits is something the citizens and the volunteer decide between themselves. Once a week, twice monthly, just a few times? It’s up to you.
Volunteers come together once a year to meet and exchange experiences and are invited to the yearly thank-you party for all the volunteers of SMOW.
Volunteers can declare costs they make (e.g. for gasoline) and make use of the Vrijwilligerspas (discounts in quite a few shops, restaurants and theaters in The Hague and Wassenaar).
