National fireworks ban takes effect
From 1 August, a nationwide ban on consumer fireworks will officially come into force in the Netherlands.

New action plan aims to improve public safety
The Municipality of Wassenaar has introduced an action plan to improve the safety of women and LGBTQI+ residents in public spaces.
The plan follows a residents’ survey and safety inspections that identified areas with poor lighting, unclear cycling routes and locations where people feel less safe. From 1 July, residents can report unsafe locations through a new online reporting system.
New electricity grid rules affect residents and businesses
New national rules for the electricity grid came into effect on 1 July, affecting both households and businesses.
In areas where the electricity grid has reached capacity, applications for new or upgraded connections may face waiting times. Priority will be given to projects that support essential services, housing and grid improvements, while residents and businesses are encouraged to use electricity more efficiently.
